Holy Shit
I have chills.
I would like to make sounds like this with my voice that would make people have chills.
Seriously...turn up the volume...sit back...appreciate this magical talent.

I kinda like this idea.
This will make it so much easier to jump the border if my fellow Americans vote the wrong way...again.

New photos!
All kinds of new photos are up!
Lake Nutimik...my first week long (true) vacation in almost two years...this one did not involve any philanthropic efforts, volunteer work or education benefits. It involved sitting on a beach, sleeping in, visiting and laughing and the occassional beer. Ok, ok...the beer was more than occassional!
There are photos of my new niece Olivia.
There are photos of my nephew Matt's second birthday.
And a couple other random shots that I took and liked.
Click here http://www.flickr.com/photos/crgoodin/ and take a cruise through my photos!
Happy smiles today!

Olivia Hope
I have a new niece.
My heart doubles in size every time I get a new niece or nephew...I love her so much and she was only 12 hours old in this picture.
Welcome Olivia, we've waited so long to meet you!

Heaven
I think I have died and gone to heaven.
My life has become increasingly chaotic over the past few months (hence the post just below this one!) so I decided it was time to hire a cleaning lady.
Her name is Esmeralda and I think she is a angel sent from heaven. I swear she has wings.
So, she comes every other week. She changes the sheets on my bed, she does my laundry ,including folding and hanging. This is my most hated chore, laundry. I have never, ever liked doing laundry. I wish I could invent some sort of biodegradable, fashionable, disposable clothing and never have to spend time with dryer sheets again.
So, the first week she came I was there working with her just to see if she had questions, needed supplies etc, etc. I was doing laundry while she was there. Having her clean the rest of the house was motivation for me to focus on a couple of loads of laundry.
Her second visit was two weeks ago and when I came home, my freakin' laundry was done! I never asked her to do that!! She just did it...and honestly, I'd rather pay her to do my laundry rather than clean my floors. I really, really thought I had died and gone to heaven. I didn't know that cleaning ladies did laundry! She had even washed and folded the sheets she took off my bed! Damn! Now that is a bargain!
Yesterday was her third visit here. This is what I came home to:

She folded ALL the sweaters and t-shirts on the top shelf off my closet. Now, I wish I had a before picture to show you and you would begin to feel a small portion of the relief and excitement I was feeling after I saw this. It was a total, complete rediculous mess. It's almost embarrassing that she saw it let alone fixed it. I was stunned...and relieved.
See. I told you.
Esmeralda really is an angel sent from heaven.

Embarrassing
I just logged onto make a new post here on my blog...and it's very embarrassing that I last posted on April 27th. I'm pretty sure I lost the only three blog fans I had...
Oh well...carry on...

now THIS would make me smile!
Strange as it may seem...this looks simply relaxing.

Then again, I do not need another reason to stay at work longer than I already do!

Weird Rules
Why is it that people seem to be getting more and more sensitive about how to greet and say farewell to one another from...oh...about late-November to December 30 or so?
But random people seem to have no problem wishing me a Happy Easter.
I must have had no less than 50 Happy St. Patrick's Day and Happy Easter wishes in the last 8 days or so...people have no idea what holidays I do/don't celebrate and they'll wish me anything they want.
As long as it's not between late November and December 30.
Maybe someday we will be walking around during March/Holy Week saying "Happy Spring" to each other just to be on the "safe side" of political and religious correctness!

Life's a beach...
And that is just where I am headed.
In 100 days.
I'm going here-- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whiteshell_Provincial_Park. It's a cozy little place in the wild Canadian Shield a little less than two hours outside Winnipeg. It's gorgeous there. I'll be visting and spending time with the local bears, beavers, fish, moose, elk and all kinds of birds. Oh yeah, and some of my cousins will be there too!
And I'm staying in one of these-- http://www.nutimik.mb.ca/index.php?p=deluxe. A small rustic cabin on a lake in the Canadian Shield. Fantastic!
I'm very happy about this! Who wouldn't be??!!
And I really need this too...I busted my ass in Germany last year with no other vacation time at all in 2007, chaperoned eighteen teenagers to Mexico in February and now it's my turn for a REAL vacation!
I'm planning on sleeping in when I feel like it, sitting in the sun when I feel like it, drinking beer when I feel like it, and reading all afternoon every afternoon. No city walking tours allowed, no museums allowed and everyone must speak English with no accent. I will not work or volunteer for anything on this trip! I promise!
Some of my extended family will be there but none of my family from California...just me. There is one bittersweet part, my uncle from Switzerland will be in Winnipeg the week before and we will miss seeing each other. I'm glad he's going and he's glad I'm going...but we are sad it's not at the same time.
Let the countdown begin!

Computer Video Cameras
It's a really good thing my computer doesn't have one.
Because last night, it would have caught me falling asleep in front of it.
For some reason, this daylight savings shit has kicked my ass this week!

Warm friendly check in's
Awww...I just received a wonderful voice mail from a friend the other day who was just calling to say she missed me...we haven't seen each other in a while and it was just a nice, warm, friendly check in from her.
You know who you are...and I thank you! I could stand to learn a thing or two from you about checkin' in with old friends...I think we all can!
Let's all try it...go ahead...pick someone you haven't spoken to in a while...call them. Don't e-mail...call them. You'll be glad you did!

Clean house
I love my clean house.
I *hate* cleaning it...but I love it when it's done.
Shiny surfaces, glistening mirrors, empty laundry baskets...all this makes me smile from the inside out!

New blog
Well...I created this blog a while back...and I'm just now starting using it!
Some of you know that I kept a blog during my GSE experience in Germany...but it seemed a bit odd to keep a blog called Deutschland Diary when I'm no longer in Deustchland.
I liked keeping that blog and wanted to create a new one but that would require a better name that would work long term.
A few months back I was really pondering the fact that the most genuine smiles come from the inside out. This thought stuck with me. One day, I hopped on here to see if someone was already using that as a blog title and...nope! No one was! And that, my friends, is how this blog...Smiles From The Inside Out...was created.
Since then, this blogspot sat...and sat...and sat...empty.
For months. Until today.
